Early Conference Registration…

If you have not made plans to join us at The Sagamore at Bolton Landing on Lake George from May 4 – 7, 2008, now is the time! Register on-line and save $25; and, if you register by Friday, April 4th you’ll receive a free rechargeable flashlight!

Overflow Accommodations…

Don’t Miss Out When The Sagamore Sells Out! Overflow lodging is located within two (2) miles of The Sagamore. A convenient shuttle service will be available Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Significant Others' Participation - YES!

While you are busy in the technical sessions or trade show, there are plenty of activities for your guest to enjoy at The Sagamore and in the Lake George area. We invite your guest to be our guest at the Sunday and Tuesday evening receptions. For just $185, your guest can join you for the continental breakfasts, breaks and lunches listed in the program.

What’s New???

You’ll see some of the same ole’ faces, but this is certainly not the same ole’ conference!

On Monday and Tuesday morning, there will be five (5) concurrent break out sessions…three (3) in the Conference Center and two (2) in the Main Hotel, on solid waste trends including carbon footprint, electronics recycling, green deconstruction and building, waste to energy around the world and end of term, nanotechnology, solid waste and the commerce clause, PAYT, rail haul, tritium, zero waste and even scary stuff! One of our goals is always to present a “hot topic” to waste managers and recyclers so this year our Wednesday morning plenary session will be on greenhouse gas and carbon credits.

In addition to PE professional development hours and SWANA continuing education hours, Continuing Legal Education Hours will be available to attorneys for the first time.

More Networking

Our surveys consistently rank the value of networking and technical presentations equally high.

The Monday afternoon break will be a Trade Show Happy Hour immediately followed by a session by Artists Using Discards.

On Tuesday afternoon, we have an activity (Lake George boat tour, culinary, golf, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, lawn games and outlet mall shopping) to suit everyone. New this year will be mountain biking. Afterward, come back to the conference center for the Suzanne D. LaLonde Institute to learn about the effect of global waste management on climate change.

Chat with your NYS DEC regional representative and other peers from your region over a lavish breakfast and omelets on Wednesday. There will also be tables for other northeastern states, metropolitan areas, USEPA and other organizations.

NY Federation Open…

Over 125 golfers will again take part in the NY Federation Open on Tuesday afternoon in a shotgun start!

Sponsoring a hole for $ 150 is an excellent way for your company to both increase name recognition and stand apart from competitors. Sponsors are continually recognized as play proceeds through the 6,950-yard Donald Ross-designed course.

Green It Up – Carpool

Our last eNews mentioned that we were going to start “practicing what we preach”. As you begin making your travel plans, how about carpooling with others? It’s a great way to start networking before you reach the island while reducing the carbon footprint! The most people travelling together from more than 100 miles will receive a prize on Tuesday night. The challenge has already begun with four (4) people from Westchester County.

What’s the Hurry?

Past attendees believe that we are one of the best regional solid waste/recycling conferences, and the four-star resort location in the Adirondacks is an exceptional value! People remark in their evaluations, “Best conference ever. How could it ever get better?” But that’s what we strive to do!

With 700 people expected, we anticipate reaching a cut-off point on some of the activities. So, if you will be attending, register today as it assists our hard working volunteers in making the conference an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Perhaps you have considered joining us on the island but have a question.

Hope you’ll be joining us at The Sagamore on May 4 – 7, 2008!
